Michael Dania’s hometown is Vienna – the federal capital of Austria – located in the heart of Europe. It is a city where business, design and traditional handicrafts have a long tradition – the same can be said about Michael Dania’s family. Following the family tradition, his education encompassed all of these areas. In addition to that, the practical knowledge which has accumulated over more than 100 years, as well as the skills and techniques developed in craftsmanship, have been passed on from generation to generation.

All of this created the fundamentals of his work – the refinement of buildings with unusual materials and surfaces. Michael Dania and his team have already implemented more than 2000 projects at home and abroad in close cooperation with customers and architects. He has received, also together with his partners in the Color Council Guild, numerous awards.

The fundamentals for all of the projects and awards have always been the knowledge of the craftsmanship and access to a selected collection of materials.

The company DANIA was founded in Vienna in 1897. For generations, it has been dedicated to the world of handcrafted surfaces. Michael Dania has divided his traditional Viennese company into 2 parts:

Dania – Manufactory for fine coatings, painting and parquet

Dania – Workshop for stucco, restoration and historic preservation

The customers’ high demands for traditional craftsmanship – in connection with the use of the latest technologies – have been applied to all areas for decades.

The companys’ headquarters is in Austria, but projects are implemented worldwide for our customers.

MATERIAL COLLECTION

Michael Dania has been developing special surfaces for a long time, doing material scouting and sorting everything according to area of application, quality and design requirements. This large selection of exquisite materials and surface patterns should be made available to a wider public.

Former workshop and studio areas have been lovingly converted to create a breathtaking ambience on more than 1,000 m² for this unique collection. The result was an incomparable world of surfaces that operate as an independent material library.

IMPRESSIONS

In the implementation of projects, coherence in color and shape and compliance with basic design rules are of course important. For Michael Dania, however, a very simple rule is the most important: the client and the architect must be able to identify with the result without restriction and the user must feel completely at ease.

In return, Michael Dania likes to forego the vanity of his own formative style in favor of individual design according to the customer’s wishes. This is how a diverse mix of special projects was created in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain, Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Russia, Brazil, the USA and now also in the United Arab Emirates.
